Celeste Stuhring
Celeste is one of my earliest students and has really taken off
with her own fusing specialties. She has become an expert at using
the Hot Box - the tabletop rapid-fire kiln that plugs into a standard
wall socket. She is also a master with dichroic glass - the expensive
stuff! (we use plenty). While our bracelets are fusing in the main
kiln we wire (with fine silver) and bead our glass wristwatch
bands - again designed with dichroic - watch faces provided. Then back
to the bracelet project: using the Hot Box we slump and manipulate
the glass into the proper shape using special graphite tongs over a
very interesting, specially designed steel mold. Along the way
Celeste will teach us about a number of jewelry techniques: fusing
with fine silver, glass drilling, grinding, fire polishing and more.
A complete list of suppliers for tools and materials will be
provided. Everyone should go home with two bracelets, one watch and
LOTS of knowledge!
